Womens Winter Coats: Funnel Neck Coat

Posted by Anna on ,
This season is all about the perfect womens winter coat, right?

Now that my cold is starting to get out of my system, it has reminded me of one thing when it comes to the cold winter months: Put that super-cool leather jacket and buy a warm womens wool coat!

Seriously, it's almost December and I haven't bought myself a nice and solid wool jacket. I already have classy wool trench coat but we all need some variety, don't we?

So that's why I've been browsing the Net for some sleek yet stylish womens winter jackets in wool. This time I've decided on 3 lovely everyday designer funnel neck coats.

Why should you pick designer?

It's all about a matter of taste and budget, but I find womens designer coats more unique in style. Often the details such as buttons, pockets, hem, neck, stitches, fabric and cut are different. The quality also seem to be a notch better than most mainstream, massproduced winter coats.

Where to buy designer winter coats

My choice fell on Overstock because of their designer discounts and fast delivery. I've bought a couple of blouses from their store and I'm satisfied with my purchase. Smart Bargains is another great discount designer clothing mall/store but they fell short on variety.

You can also read other's reviews on the item which is a huge plus because then you'll know if the coat is really a good buy or not. For instance, when I was browsing through Overstock a couple of days ago I found a gorgeous Anne Klein double breasted wool coat. I read the description. It was made of wool-blend, consisted of a funnel jacket, nice belted waist, etc., etc.

It looked like the perfect, warm, comfy and stylish coat.. Or so I thought. I immediately decided to purchase it but a couple of the reviews caught my eye. Other women have been saying that the coat is not warm enough and that the sleeves were a little bit long.

Not so perfect after all.

I needed a jacket that could take the cold climate and that would at the same time flatter my body shape. I'm petite (5'4) with slightly shorter arms so the coat would have made me look like a little kid.

It's stuff like this that you should weigh your decision on. Carefully read the item description and assess what coat you really need!

Anyway, at Overstock I completely fell inlove with these feminine and chic womens winter coats:

Via Spiga women's basketweave wool blend coat
is absolutely stunning. Just take a look at the nice waist belt and A-line hem. It'll give your style a little bit of *ooomph* and flatter your curves!

Miss Sixty cable wool blend coat
is cute and different from the rest of the bunch. Look at the charming shoulder straps and cable texture. Luuuv it :)

Anne Klein womens double-breasted short coat
is simple and classy. It's something that will go with everything. Whenever, wherever.

So have you already bought yourself a nice and warm coat for Winter?

Sick... Such a drag.

Current Fashion Trends: Oversized Rings

Posted by Anna on , ,
Ring a ding bling. Yup, don't let your fingers go solo and unnoticed this season. Oversized cokctail rings have been spotted on several celebrities - on the Red carpet and when they're shopping.

Thanks to the fashion world which is still evolving and modernizing, they're not for cocktail hours any more. You can find cocktail rings in several wearable everyday styles, from faux gems (as in real-looking but fake gemstone), animal designs, wood, and other unconventional and not least, affordable materials. The variety of fashion rings has grown, so if you like wearing simple clothes and accessories, then you'll find other designs that are more discreet and not too blingy as the typical sparkly diamond/cubic zirconia ring. Simply put, they're not just for the rich folks any more!

Back in the 40's oversized cocktail rings were used to boast your image of luxury, money and beauty. Today they're worn as statement pieces to show how chic you are and that you can put together a great outfit. Wear the cocktail ring with a fabulous mini cocktail dress or with your tunic tee and jeans to add a little zest to your style!

Here are my favorites from around the web:

Tips on How to Wear Oversized Rings

- Well-manicured hands. People will automatically notice large statement rings, especially when you raise your arm or hand; when you're holding a glass, a clutch purse, putting your hand over your mouth when laughing, etc.. Do not distract the beauty of the ring with chipped polish, hangnails, or overgrown cuticles!

- Keep the rest of your outfit simple. Tone down on the other accessories and clothes you're wearing. Stick to simple jewelry and solid colored garments. This will make sure that the oversized ring will get the centerstage of your ensemble.

- Pick the right cocktail ring for your fingers. Complement the fullness of your hands and fingers. That means, if you have skinny or/and short fingers avoid large, chunky gemstones as they'll overwhelm and make them look even skinnier in comparison. If you have thicker fingers and/or big hands, you'll suit bigger cocktail ring styles. Smaller ones will only make your hands look bigger.

- If you want to elongate the appearance of your hands opt for oval and longer-shaped rings.

- Avoid ruining the metal. Soap, perfume and water can make the metal tarnish and lose its color. So remember to wash and dry your hands, and put cream BEFORE you put on the ring!

So what do you think? Is this jewelry trend something you would wear?

Oooh, aaah... These would fit perfect in my wardrobe:

Multi twisted chain from Browns Fashion and black and gold basket weave bracelet from Fantasy Jewelry Box will complement the Miu Miu wool belted sweater from Net-a-Porter and bleached jeans from Top Shop. The Anna Sui boho silk blend dress is a pretty sight for my boho'ish sense of style. And the drapey sweater from All Saints and brown ankle boots from Miss Selfridge would look casual-chic with a pair of dark wash skinny jeans.

Current Fashion Trends: Wrap Cardigan

Posted by Anna on ,
The drapey, open wrap cardigan is a huge hit this season. Some people says it's a trend that will fade in a couple of months but I say it's a piece that will stay for a long time... in my wardrobe, he he!

I bought 3-4 open cardigans a couple 2 years ago and I've been wearing them regularly ever since. People often complimented me on the beautiful cardigans and I certainly don't feel like I've ever looked "out of date" in it.

It's versatile and feminine so why wouldn't you make it as one of your wardrobe essentials?

PS: This post became too long so I created a new webpage on wrap cardigans at The Chic Fashionista.com. Read about how to wear a wrap cardigan and wear to buy stylish open cardigan styles online!

Pure Perfection: Crocheted Collared Cardigan

Posted by Anna on ,
Yummy crocheted and ruffled neckline. Belted waist. Long enough to warm my butt in the cold. Ribbed hem. In my eyes, they're an absolute perfection. Unfortunetaly, Lulu's only have this cardigan in grey and size large. Grey is not my color and large would swamp me up.
